Did you know that 72 million children
in the world do not have an opportunity to attend school each day?
Nearly half of them live in
Africa. The World
Leaders signed an agreement that by 2015 every child would receive an
education - something that our children can take for granted.
Unfortunately, we are still a long way off the final ‘goal' of education
for all. Therefore,
Stanah school took part in the 1 GOAL ‘Send my friend to school'
campaign, which took place during the World Cup period.
As
part of their global citizenship
education the children found out about the difficulties other children
around the world have in gaining an education and some of the reasons
for this.
During the World Cup period, the children made 1 GOAL scarves, which
were signed by their friends and families and will act as a petition,
which will be sent to the Prime Minister to remind him of the agreement
our country entered into.
These photographs show the children
waving their 1 GOAL scarves, in support of education for all children,
no matter where they live.
