hometeam.pngThe “STANAH HOME TEAM” are a group of willing parents who are able to give up an hour of their time to get stuck in and make our school a better place. We do NOT have meetings, votes or require any commitment. We just get the job done! We need volunteers by the dozen, mums, dads, grandads, uncles or aunties. Whatever your skills, we need your help. First job is the afternoon on Tuesday 13/07/10 to finish painting a ‘new’ Y2 classroom. Many hands make light work. Meet other parents and help the school. Lost Property-All FS/KS1 lost property will be in the infant hall between 3.15-3.30pm on Monday 12th June. Anything that isn’t claimed will go to a worthy charity.

Very Important Message.

Earlier this week one of our KS1 children was knocked over by another child riding a bike in the school grounds. This has resulted in damage to a new tooth and a trip to the dentist! It is important to stress that we ask parents to ensure that children DO NOT ride bicycles or scooters in the school grounds. The school grounds get congested at key times and it becomes unsafe to cycle etc.

We also request that only children who have completed the ‘Safer cycling’ course cycle to school.

Homework will be changing. I have asked the staff and will be seeking the thoughts of the children for suggestions to the format of homework next year. I am in favour of a more creative approach where children have a mix of basic skills, weekly challenges and weekly/half termly thematic projects that support learning in school with clear objectives, whilst being fun to complete.

Yesterday was our extremely successful themed ‘Maths Day’. Tutors and students from the University of Cumbria worked with our staff to lead some exciting maths based activities. Every class was involved for the whole day and it was great to see so much fun and enjoyment in Maths. Photos on the website soon.
